Assyrian retirement village in Sydney

 

As part of the Church’s commitment to the Assyrian community, a project has been undertaken for the construction of a retirement village adjacent to St, Mary’s Church in Fairfield, Sydney. The total cost is estimated at $10 - $12 million, including the land purchase and the extension of the Church Hall to cater for the residents of the complex.

The 50 unit retirement village will cater for the senior members of the Assyrian community and it will be managed by the Church under a strata arrangement.

 

A majority of the apartments will comprise of fully furnished two bedrooms units, including one bedroom and studio apartments. Units will be made available for investors to purchase, being two bedroom units and the remaining will be leased by the Church for senior members of the community, whereby they will pay a set weekly fee.

 

  • The fee paid by residents will provide accommodation, including the following facilities and services:

  • Meals served in the Church hall for dinner, breakfast, lunch, and recreation excluding Sundays.

  • Laundry services available

  • Health monitoring provided 24 hours by management

  • Weekly Bus trip to Fairfield for shopping and other necessities, a fee will be deducted from their pensions

  • Underground parking for residents

  • Security provided for the complex

  • Telephone services available and paid by the residents

The living arrangements are for residents who are independent, however the villas are available to be purchased by occupying residents.


Construction of this project will commence early 2006. Interested community members can register their names for selection, and they will be assessed against a set criterion in accordance with financial support from the government.
