Ss Peter and Paul Parish Retreat - September 2007
“… Anyone who is going through a rough patch in life should go to a camp like that…”

On Thursday 7 September 2007 at 8pm, a number of the Ss. Peter and Paul’s Parishioners set off for the yearly retreat to the Wombaroo Adventure Centre, after a prayer through which the Lord was beseeched for His protection and guidance.
Arriving at 10pm, the participants were allocated to their cabins followed by dinner and the usual bon-fire.
The three day retreat consisted of workshops titled “Spiritual Health Check”, where smalls groups created role plays and each performed to the group showing what issues we face today, and group discussions were held on how to tackle them in accordance to God’s Word.
Archery and Flying Fox (see photos), along with many other social, cultural and sporting activities were available for all to take part in and enjoy.

On Sunday morning at 9:30am, the Eucharistic Liturgy (Raza D’Qurbana Qadeesha) was said by Rev. Genard Lazar, Parish Priest. Prior to the commencement of the Mystery (Raza), the faithful were given a small folded peace of paper containing a seed. During his sermon, Rev. Genard invited everyone to unfold the paper and find a small seed which represented the seed of love which Christ sows in the hearts of all those who draw near to Him in total submission.

“I think that anyone who is going through a rough patch in life should go to a camp like that, because you just get away from those problems of the world and really focus on God and you just realise how much and how great Christ really is - everyone should take time out and give it to the Lord,” said Patricia, one of the participants.

“Even though I do not like camping and giving up the luxury of my bed the company made up for it. It was fellowship on an intimate level which transformed “hi/bye” relationships into “how is your walk?” relationships. Workshops were great I wanted more of them. The activities were not only fun but forced us to work in harmony by supporting each other… “Added Dany.

Well done to the organisers and all those who helped.
All glory and honor be to Christ our Lord. |
