Theology > Bible Studies > Following Him – “We are His offspring.”

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. `For in Him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, `We are His offspring.' (Acts 17:24-28)

I have come to learn a lot about myself and about the Lord. I now live each day for Him.

Each new day I wake up, I praise and thank Him. I thank Him for yet another beautiful day He has given me, another day He has given me to better myself for Him. As I live each new day, I want Him to be proud of me and to be smiling down at me. I have found myself to be a much happier person by giving myself to the Lord. What I ask for I am given and I thank Him with all of my heart for everything He has done and is still doing for me.

Christianity is not just a religion. True Christians experience a deep personal relationship with the Creator God of the universe. All other religions of the world have one thing in common: they are attempting to reach God by their own efforts, rituals and traditions. Only the God of the Bible reaches out to people in love and offers a personal relationship to each individual. He has provided a way for you to be united with Him. The way is through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus says to you:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Jesus the Christ is the only true path for unity with God.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12).

The gospel message in the Holy Bible is that Jesus Christ came down from heaven to rescue people and restore their relationship to God. This is how God showed his love among us:

He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)

Jesus was born from a virgin woman and He lived in a human body. Jesus died a painful death on a cross to pay the penalty for your sins. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, over 500 people saw Him and later He ascended back to heaven.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through Him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. (Romans 5:8-11)

When you accept God's plan of salvation, the blood that Jesus shed on the cross is applied to you also.

Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,

you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in Me, and I in him.” (John 6:53-56)

When Jesus said these words, some of His followers were offended but He later explained that He was speaking spiritually.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (John 6:63)

You receive the blood of Jesus by faith, by believing the gospel message. When you accept that the blood of Jesus paid the price for your sins, you become reconciled to God. Jesus will enter into you and you will enter into Him. Although we do not deserve it, God offers us this costly gift through His grace. His grace is an act of true love, shown through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ and it is a gift offered freely to you.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

We do not work to receive God's gift of salvation, but when we receive salvation by faith then our faith will be proven by doing the works of God, which He has prepared for us to do. The scene of Jesus dying on the cross was the ultimate proof of God's love for you. Our love for God is proven by believing Him and obeying Him.

Greater love has no one than this, that He lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. (John 15:13-14)

When you accept God's grace through faith, you then enter into the destiny that God has planned for your life.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Perhaps you may ask “How do I know that Jesus will accept me?” But if you have a desire to come to Jesus, then that is the voice of God calling you to Him. Jesus said:

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the Prophets: `They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to Me. (John 6:44-45)

Jesus promises that He will not reject anyone who comes to Him:

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away. (John 6:37)

Here are some other promises that God desires to receive you as His child:

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. (Isaiah 1:18)

For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)

The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. (Psalms 145:18-19)

For He says, "In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you." I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)

I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart and began a new life in Him. You can accept Jesus into your heart also, to receive the special gift of love from God and enjoy a new life in Him. Pray this prayer from your heart, and speak it out loud if you are able:

MY SALVATION PRAYER :

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God and You became a man to suffer and die on a cross to pay the penalty for my sins.

I believe that You arose from the dead and You are alive, and You are God of the universe.

I confess that I have sinned against You and against people, and I pray that You will forgive me and wash me clean through the blood that You shed on the cross.

I pray that You and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, will come and live in me and I will live in You.

I give my life to You, to do Your will and not my will.

Please give me the faith to believe all the promises that You have written to me in Your word the Holy Bible.

Lord Jesus, please baptize me in the Holy Spirit and fill me with your presence.

Please give me the strength and the faith to accomplish the plans and the destiny that You have for me and give me the courage to be a witness for You.

Please fill me with Your love and compassion for people so I can be like You.

I pray all these things in Jesus name, Amen.

God Bless
